Panasonic Toughpad

The Panasonic Toughpads come in two different models, The A series and the B series. The ToughPad A1 is a 10.1 inch tablet with a $1300 price tag, while the B1 is smaller, at 7 inches. Considering the price, these units are most likely niche products, meant for hard working environments like construction sites. To make them resilient Panasonic used a magnesium alloy chassis encased with ABS and elastomer, plus port covers.  The Panasonic ToughPad A1 runs Android 3.2 and relies on a Marvell 1.2GHz dual core processor, coupled with 1GB of SDRAM, 16GB of flash memory, a 1024 x 768 LCD display (anti reflective, anti glare), a microSDHC card slot and optional 4G LTE. There’s even a camera on board, a 5MP at the rear and a 2MP upfront with the main one supporting autofocus and packing an LED light. The product weighs 2.1 lbs and measures 0.7 inches in thickness.

Would you see anyone else besides construction crews using these? Restaurants maybe?

  2. I agree completely with CJ. It is a very cool and innovative product. But it is for a very selective and targeted market. Not everyone would need it.
